The state set a single-day record for most confirmed coronavirus cases with 1,498, but there’s a catch.
The state Department of Health Services says there were problems with test reporting earlier this week, and that’s one reason for the high numbers. Officials haven’t said how many cases that added to today’s total. The seven-day average for new cases is 768.
The previous single-day high was 1,165 on August 8th.
The state is reporting 12.8 percent of tests came back positive, and that’s the highest figure since at least April. It was 7.9 percent yesterday, and the seven-day average is up to 9.1 percent.
There have been 79,354 confirmed cases overall. The state has 7,954 active cases, and that’s 561 more.
Hospitals are treating 52 new COVID-19 patients and there are 293 overall. Another 140 are waiting for test results.
Seven more people died, bringing the overall number of confirmed deaths to 1,153.
Brown County has 139 more cases, Outagamie 123, Winnebago 48, Waupaca 30, Fond du Lac 24, and Manitowoc 19.
Calumet and Shawano each added 18. Oconto has 16 new cases, and Waushara 11. Green Lake and Kewaunee both have six more.
