Valley Transit is seeing a 34 percent drop in riders on regular bus routes this year.
Through the end of July, the bus system is reporting nearly 356,000 riders.
General Manager Ron McDonald says they’re definitely down, but their numbers have still been steady during the pandemic. He says more people are working from home, and that’s having an impact.
He thinks typical riders aren’t going shopping as often either, or they’re having groceries and other things delivered.
Revenues for the bus routes are down 31 percent from last year.
