The pandemic has cost Green Bay about $1.6 million in revenue.
City leaders say the losses came from fewer hotel room tax dollars, liquor licenses, tickets, park rentals, admissions and investment interest. Finance Director Diane Ellenbeck says the city was able to cut some costs. She says they froze travel expenses and delayed hiring.
The city also received more than $1 million from the CARES act to offset unbudgeted expenses related to COVID-19. City leaders say Bay Beach lost about $3 million because of lost and reduced hours and capacity limits. Officials say some saved money will help make up the difference.
