The state Supreme Court puts a potential halt to early-voting in Wisconsin. The court issues an order today barring the mailing of absentee ballots until it rules on which parties will be allowed on them. The Green Party and supporters of Kanye West are suing the state Elections Commission in separate cases. The Greens claim the Elections Commission erred in denying candidate Howie Hawkins a spot on the ballot because two addresses for his Vice Presidential running mate appeared on their nomination petitions. The Commission denied West a spot on the ballot because his signatures were turned in less than a minute after the deadline has passed. The state Supreme Court does not give a timeline for possible consideration or rulings on those cases. Clerks face a September 17th deadline for mailing out absentee ballots.
