The top official at Lawrence University is calling his time at the school, “the central privilege of my professional life.”
President Mark Burstein announced last Friday that he’ll be leaving, after his eighth year on the job. He says he’s moving back to the East Coast with his husband, David Calle, to be closer to their parents.
Burstein says he’s proud of a campaign that raised money for financial aid to help all students. He reports it lowered the student debt of graduates by about $5,000, while overall student costs went up.
Burstein says while he doesn’t have a new job lined up, he has time to look at options. He’s staying at Lawrence through June 30th.
