U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is coming to the state Capitol in Madison today because of a lawmaker from Appleton.
Republican Senate President Roger Roth believes Pompeo will talk about the influence of China. He says Pompeo called him, after seeing a news article about Roth and China.
Roth says the Chinese consulate called early on in the pandemic, asking him to sponsor a proposal in the Senate that would praise China’s response to COVID-19. Roth refused.
Pompeo will be the first U.S. secretary of state to visit the state Capitol.
