Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson of Oshkosh believes Democrats are as much to blame as Republicans, if the Senate votes on a Supreme Court nominee before the election.
Johnson tells Josh Dukelow on Fresh Take the filibuster would still be available to Democrats, if precedent wasn’t broken while they were in the majority. He says that’s on former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Johnson believes it’s not a double standard to confirm a Supreme Court nominee in this election year when the same process was shut down in 2016. He argues it’s different because the same party controls both the Senate and the White House.
