Archaeologists found more artifacts and some remains at a construction site in Neenah.
The city is rebuilding Lakeshore Avenue, and putting in a winding path alongside the road.
Mayor Dean Kaufert says they’re with the DNR, archaeologists and the Native American tribes to see how to move forward. He says the area is richer with artifacts than anyone realized.
Kaufert says if they have to do more digging, it’s going to cost the city more money. He calls it’s a delicate balance, because they want to protect the sanctity of the graves, and the artifacts can help tell more history about Neenah.
