Obvious Statement: Go-Kart racing is not as exciting as Indy and/or NASCAR. BUT it can still provide moments of intense action… or retribution in this case.
During the FIA Karting World Championships, driver Luca Corberi was wrecked by his main race rival Paola Ippolito. So Corberi does what any good sportsman would do and takes the bumper off his wrecked kart and THROWS it at Ippolito as he passes at full speed on the track. Dangerous? Yes. Petty/Childish? For Sure. Entertaining? Hell Yes!
Apparently fisticuffs flew in the pit area after the race also, as one would expect.
Corberi posted an apology on Facebook following the incident before deleting it, saying, “There are no excuses to explain why I did something so shameful.”
The motorsport’s governing body, the FIA, said it had launched an immediate investigation.
