The proposed budget for the City of Appleton would continue existing programs and staffing.
Mayor Jake Woodford released his plan for 2021 last night. He says fortunately they’re aren’t any major cuts in operations. He says they worked hard to control expenses.
Woodford says there was a lot of uncertainty early on because of the pandemic, and they were preparing for the worst. But he says the state isn’t planning to cut funding to local governments, and that helped.
The tax levy would go up by five percent, to $48.5 million.
The city’s tax rate for properties in Outagamie County would also climb by five percent, to $8.78 per thousand dollars of assessed value. That means property owners would pay $878, for every $100,000 in value.
The city council is expected to vote on the budget next month.
