Sometimes being called ‘chum’ isn’t so friendly.
Drone footage taken by a lifeguard shows a great white shark stalking then darting beneath the board of pro surfer Matt Wilkinson off the coast of Sharpes Beach at Ballina in northern New South Wales.
We see the great white circle around and (appears?) appeared to be ready to attack when it breaks the surface of the water but just as suddenly just swims away. Most likely the shark realized that the human wasn’t food/seal and bailed on the potential buffet. Wilkinson can breath a sigh of relief and still hang 10… toes and fingers.
Keep in mind, when we humans are in the ocean, we are in the shark’s’ house and cross-species house rules do still apply.
