The proposed Appleton city budget for 2021 is the first one from Mayor Jake Woodford.
He started putting it together, shortly after he won the election in April. He was involved with budgeting when he was an assistant to the president at Lawrence University.
Woodford says the budgeting process is different, depending on the organization or sector, but some fundamentals carry over. He thinks they include being responsible with resources, and doing everything possible to maximize the mission.
Woodford credits city staff for their work putting together budget. He says the plan would continue city services, and keep current staffing levels.
