Wisconsin indie-folk artists The Belle Weather – “Dive”
I wrote “Dive” in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon explosion on April 20th, 2010. I woke up the next morning and saw a photograph of this incredible Louisiana Brown Pelican standing tall in the surf, drenched in oil. She peered directly into the lens of the camera as if to say, “You have to do better than this for us.” I wrote “Dive” as a love song from this pelican to an ocean who is no longer the lover she used to be. – Eric Cox
The lyrics and melody for “Dive” were written by Eric Cox. The music was written and performed by Eric Cox (guitar/vocals), Tom Abromaitis (upright bass), Thea Vorass (cello), Marisa Sheppard (violin), and Shane Hochstetler (percussion).
The song was recorded and mixed by Shane Hochstetler at Howl Street Recordings in Milwaukee, WI.
