Well you were the ones who wanted to watch whales up close and personal…
“I still have an adrenaline rush!” Julie McSorley, told Fox News of the incident.
McSorley and her friend Liz Cottriel were observing humpback whales 30 feet off Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo.
The ladies were in a kayak and THOUGHT they were a safe distance from the feeding whales. Wrong.
McSorley said, “a large bait ball came up around us followed by two whales which lifted us out of the water and tipped us over,”
Despite reenacting the whale scene from Pinocchio, the pair were shaken but no worse for wear, save for a lost pair of car keys.
Although the incident did teach McSorley a valuable lesson. “I learned I should be much further away,” she wrote.
