Two Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies are being hailed as heroes for pulling a man out of a burning SUV involved in a crash.
Deputies were called to a Bellevue neighborhood just after 1:30 a.m. yesterday. Sgt. Chris Tappen ran to the SUV, pulled the driver’s side door open and with the help of Deputy Cooper Walker, pulled the driver out.
Captain Dan Sandberg tells Action 2 News the 32-year-old Green Bay man was arrested for drunk driving. He suffered minor burns and the deputies weren’t hurt.
These kind of situations make Sandberg mad because the driver endangered many lives. He notes 13 people were killed in fatal crashes this year and five of those involved drinking and drugs.
