A Formula One race car driver miraculously survived a fiery crash on Sunday at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The driver, Romain Grosjean, suffered burns to his fingers and ankles, but he’s lucky to be alive.
Grosjean smashed into trackside barriers, his car SPLIT IN TWO and was engulfed in flames, but his head was protected by the halo cockpit -which racing experts cite to saving his life. The safety device was made mandatory by the FIA in 2018.
Eventual race-winner Lewis Hamilton tweeted ahead of his victory ‘I am so grateful Romain is safe. Wow … the risk we take is no joke’
The only thing I’m not sure of is how Hamilton tweeted ahead of his victory (?) tweeting while racing in F1 seems a bit reckless but maybe that was the ‘risk’ he referred to in his tweet.
