Neenah’s mayor says the city will have a Rockefeller Plaza-type skating rink in the near future.
The City Council unanimously approved a project plan for an outdoor rink and public plaza last night. The city’s Director of Community Development, Chris Haese feels it will compliment other projects city officials are working on.
Construction is expected to cost between $4 and $5 million dollars and will all be donated by a group led by John Bergstrom. The group will also operate the facility for at least the first five years and potentially up to 15 years before the city takes it over.
Construction is expected to start sometime next spring.
