Do you remember the scene in ‘Jurassic Park’ where the T-Rex begins chasing the jeep with Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) sitting in the back watching the T-Rex close in on them with shocking ease?
“Must Go FASTER!!!”
Pretty much the same happened on a safari where a group of tourists are in the bush at the MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE in Kenya and suddenly a giraffe is fed up with the safari paparazzi (papafari or safarazzi?) and gives chase to their jeep.
Now, if you haven’t seen a giraffe gallop full-tilt before it’s quite impressive to see the speed they can achieve. Long strides.
I should note that it’s Impressive sitting in the comfort of wherever you watch this video but not so awe-inspiring if you’re actually IN the jeep. The giraffe actually overtakes the jeep at one point cutting them off and then continues to chase them as they retreat backwards.
I’m not sure how much damage a giraffe could do to you if provoked but much like any wild animal encountered on a safari, best not to wait around for the answer.
