A documentary about the world’s most iconic rock band – The Beatles: Get Back – has been in the works for some time and if not for the pandemic it would most likely be completed by now. Now with COVID restrictions being lifted in New Zealand, director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) and his crew have continued production. As a treat to fans, Jackson has released a sneak peek of the film.
The documentary covers the final months of The Beatles including recording sessions for what would be the Let It Be and Abbey Road albums as well as their final live performance on top of their office on Savile Row in London. In the video, Jackson says they had around 56 hours of unreleased film to work from as well as 150 hours of Beatles audio, all carefully remastered for use in the film.
The Beatles: Get Back is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 27th, 2021.
