Well isn’t this a sign of the times.
In the video below we see two dogs are frothing at the mouth, ready to go at each other with only a fence separating them… then the fence is slowly pulled back and… nothing… absolutely nothing.
Now, replace the fence with social media and you’ve pretty much got all the bluster and anger of the internet age, juxtaposed to to what happens to all that ‘enhanced’ vitriol when actually standing face-to-face with a fellow human being.
Welcome to the internet age.
People will seemingly flex their ‘Twitter Muscles‘ or unleash (dog pun) their ‘Facebook Fury‘ on anyone and everyone within shouting distance, but when put face-to-face with someone (they so vehemently oppose) on the other side of the internet fence… they tend to find, more than not, that their bark is worse than their bite. And maybe they figure out we have more in common than originally thought.
Poet Robert Frost is quoted in his poem ‘Mending Wall‘ saying, Good fences make good neighbors. But the point of that poem is really, good neighbors mend broken fences because it’s good for both no matter what side you’re standing on.
