Gina Carano is no longer a part of the Star Wars franchise. According to a report from Gizmodo, the actress who played Cara Dune will not reprise that role for The Mandalorian after Lucasfilm let her go due to posts “denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities”, according to a spokesperson.
Carano has had a history of posting controversial topics to her social media accounts including posts of transphobia and Covid denial. After an anti-Semitic post was uploaded and subsequently taken down shortly thereafter on Tuesday, Lucasfilm made the decision to cut ties with the actress.
Carano played Cara Dune for two seasons on The Mandalorian which is owned by Disney. She also appeared as “Angel Dust” in the first Deadpool film, now also a Disney property after their purchase of 20th Century Fox.
