A lawsuit between the village of Hobart and the Oneida Nation will not go to the U-S Supreme Court. The village has decided to drop the suit–which stemmed from the tribe’s failure to secure event permits for Big Apple Fest starting in 2009. The Oneida’s claimed that because the event took place on sovereign land, it was not subject to municipal taxes or fees. A three judge appeals panel had ruled in favor of the tribe.
