A Tennessee woman’s quick thinking saved her dog’s life.
Jennie Tatum’s dogs were playing in her backyard when her 50-pound pit bull, Sid, ran across her frozen pool and immediately broke through the ice and sank to the bottom. Tatum, who was (thankfully) shooting video of her playful pups at the time, jumped into action and then into the icy pool, breaking the ice with her bare hands to get to Sid.
She couldn’t find Sid at first, as the icy water put him into a state of shock and sunk him to the bottom of the pool. Tatum then got out, and saw a ‘brown spot’ in the pool, jumped back in and lifted the 50 pound pooch out.
Tense moments followed trying to warm Sid. Neighbors helped her get Sid to local Veterinarian April Smith, who said one more minute in the water could have proven fatal.
Sid was revived using oxygen and is now fully recovered from his ordeal.
