Green Bay fire crews rescued four people from a burning apartment on the west side this morning.
Crews were called to the 500 block of south Fisk Street just before 5 a.m. and found two adults and two small children near windows. Battalion Chief Mike VandenAvond believes one parent was with a child in each bedroom. He says the bedroom doors were closed and that saved the family from being overcome by smoke and gave firefighters the time they needed to save everyone.
The family was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. VandenAvond says damage was confined to one room and estimates the dollar amount at $20,000. The large apartment complex has about 30 units.
