The temps are heating up here in the Midwest (finally!). If your family is anything like mine, a lot of time is spent in your backyard during the warmer months. We created these string light planters for our patio a few years back and they have added such a beautiful touch – both during the day and at night. They were so easy to create – here are the steps to add these to your backyard oasis!
- Mix your concrete in the planter barrels – it should fill about 1/2 – 3/4 of the barrel
- Insert your 4×4 post in the center of the planter and make sure it’s level
- Support your post using scrap wood to keep it level and upright while the concrete is setting
- Use a drill to add drainage holes just above the concrete line
- After the concrete has cured, add a layer of rock/pebble to help with drainage and then fill with potting soil and flowers
- Add C-hooks to the top of the posts and hang your string lights
