The Neenah-Menasha Fire Department is asking people to stay away from the former Whiting Paper Mill site–as it is still very dangerous. The mill caught fire around 7:30 Sunday night and sustained a roof collapse. Commander Ryan Krings still had crews on the scene today (Monday) putting out hot-spots.
The cause of the fire may take several days to determine. Coincidentally, the Menasha Common Council is scheduled to vote tonight on declaring the Whiting Mill site as “blighted” to aid in future redevelopment of the site.
