The state Supreme Court suspends a Winnebago County judge for one week without pay. Judge Scott Woldt will begin his suspension on August 2nd. The discipline comes following a series of incidents where Woldt was accused of acting inappropriately in the courtroom. That includes berating attorneys for “wasting his time” making arguments in court, displaying his handgun during a visit by high school students, and using crude language to address both defendants and victims in cases. The Supreme Court notes that no further complaints have been filed since 2016.
