A Fargo, North Dakota man, Bill Fischer, came home from a four-day work trip to find he wasn’t the only one working hard. A squirrel stashed 42 gallons of walnuts in his Chevy Avalanche.
Fischer said he came home to discover his truck filled with black walnuts tucked into every nook and cranny of the truck, including the engine compartment and the fenders – enough to fill seven 6-gallon containers.
Fischer told the Grand Forks Herald,“I had to pull the fenders off and clean out all the walnuts out, and thought I had them all and took it down the road, turned the corner and found one rolling down the windshield where the wipers go,”
Strangely enough this was not the first time this unique incident has happened – the squirrels have been using his vehicles as a nut vault since 2013 – every two years – which is the maturation cycle of the tree.
