The Oshkosh School District announces three finalists for the name of the new northside middle school. They include Jessie Jack Hooper–a suffragette who fought for women’s right to vote in the early 1900’s–Paul Poberezny–founder of the Experimental Aircraft Association-and Vel Phillips–who was the first Black woman to serve as a Judge and as Secretary of State in Wisconsin. The district is conducting an on-line survey to gauge public support for each option. Voting runs through November 22nd. District officials have said the survey will not actually determine the name of the school–that will still be decided by the School Board.
