A Swedish Pink Floyd fan has painstakingly colorized their 1967 appearance from black and white to living color on American Bandstand.
The band ‘performed’ (lip-synched) the song “Apples and Oranges” – their newest and 3rd single at the time – later to be included on their 1969 album “This is Pink Floyd” and subsequently on the “Piper at the Gates of Dawn” deluxe set release.
The Swedish fan, Artist on the Border, wrote that “I started the project in February 2021. It ended on the 30th of December 2021. I’m not doing this again, like this.”
The artist goes into further detail on the time-consuming project HERE
Mission accomplished, or just hastily abandoned. I present to you my final version of Apples and Oranges at the American Bandstand show. Recorded at the ABC Studios, Burbank, California on November 7th 1967. The band performs a halfhearted version of Apples and Oranges, presumeably in pre-taped rehearsal with a somewhat absent Syd Barrett fronting the show.
