I’d imagine that police are trained to expect the unexpected always in their line of duty.
But I’m not sure how you’d expect to encounter a non-compliant squirrel during a routine traffic stop… but that’s just what happened.
According to the department’s Facebook page: LPSO deputies made a traffic stop with an arrest. Upon a vehicle search, a pet feral squirrel – which was inside – pounced on deputies.
This video – in a scene reminiscent of “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” shows what happened next.
Sheriff Ard confirms neither LPSO deputies nor squirrels were harmed during the encounter and the squirrel was returned to its cage.
At least someone ended up behind bars.
