In a very effective campaign to solicit blood donations, American Red Cross uses a particular film genre that usually spills more blood than it collects to get their message through… HORROR!
Actress Neve Campbell who’s played Sydney Prescott in five ‘Scream‘ films so far (still crossing… or Red-Crossing in this case… our fingers for #6) pays homage to her horror roots in a Red Cross campaign trying to spurn on (or spurt out) blood donations.
The spot features some of the myriad of ways people make bad decisions in horror movies that lead to blood loss.
In the PSA Campbell says, “50% of Americans like watching blood get spilled in horror movies BUT only 3% donate it.”
Now that’s a frightening statistic.
