OSHKOSH, Wis–Initial testing shows very low levels of so-called “forever chemicals” in Oshkosh. The D-N-R has started requiring testing for PFAs in the drinking water supply, surface water, and areas where firefighting foam containing the chemicals may have been used.
The level in the Fox River in Oshkosh, and at point where it empties out of Lake Winnebago in Neenah, was two-parts-per-trillion. That is far less than the standard set by the state of 70-parts-per-trillion. Oshkosh drinking water, which comes from the lake, was not tested due to those low background levels in the river.
