Once upon a time in the early ’80’s, Aussie music ruled the US charts. INXS, Air Supply, Men at Work, um, some others I’m sure. About the same time, some strapping lads in California started a band that would be everything those happy-go-lucky Aussies were not. Hard and heavy. Dark and dangerous. Now, 40 years later, a mad musical mash-up genius named Bill McClintock has merged the two to create Mentallica and A Land Down ONE-der. Love it or hate it, I’m sure you will agree that is sure is something.
(Truth be told, it took me a couple of listens, but I think it has started to grow on me. Then again, I always thought Metallica needed a tree climbing flute player.)
