Lisa Marie Presley died today of an apparent cardiac arrest at age 54. According to a statement released by her family,
“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
According to reports, Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital this morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. Her first husband, Danny Keough, who had been living with her, administered CPR but was apparently unable to revive her.
Keough was one of her four ex-husbands that included, most notably, Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage.
Lisa Marie and her mother attended the Golden Globes Tuesday night and celebrated the best actor victory by Austin Butler who portrayed her father in last year’s movie of his life.
Early condolences of come from the likes smashing pumpkins Billy Corgan who is both a close friend and collaborator, who tweeted,
“There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow. This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count. Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time. I truly cannot fond the words to express how sad this truly is. RIP”
And from friend and fellow Scientology survivor Leah Remini who wrote,
“I’m heartbroken over the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think. May she be at peace, resting with her son and father now. Her mom Priscilla and her three daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper, are in my prayers.”
Lisa Marie’s son, Benjamin Keough, took his own life in 2020 at age 27.
