10 years ago, a video of a hitchhiking homeless man went viral after he saved the life of a woman by stopping the attacker with a hatchet. I remembered the story but not until this past weekend when I watched the Netflix documentary, The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker, did I see the victim wearing a Packer shirt. It just made the whole thing seem little closer to home.
Kai, the aforementioned hitchhiker, seemed like an easy-going, peace loving hippie. He got his 15 minutes of fame with media outlets fighting over him without anyone asking the question, “Is this guy all right?” Turns out, a little charisma can get people to overlook a lot.
