MADISON, Wis. — A former Wisconsin governor has died.
Gov. Tony Evers says 86-year-old Tony Earl passed away Thursday morning after suffering a stroke last weekend.
Earl was the 41st governor of Wisconsin and served from 1983 to 1987. He also served in the State Assembly and was secretary of the state Department of Administration and Department of Natural Resources.
Evers has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Earl, effective immediately.
