OSHKOSH, WI–More than one million dollars was spent on a local state Assembly race. Campaign finance records show the eventual winner in the 54th District, Democrat Lori Palmeri, spent $695,000 on her campaign–while Republican Donnie Herman spent $336,000.
The state Democratic party was Palmeri’s leading donor, providing her with $441,000, while the Democratic Assembly Committee gave her another $178,000. Herman’s top donor was the Republican state party at $192,000. He also spent $25,000 of his own money.
The million dollar total is two-and-a-half times what was spent on the 54th Assembly race in 2020, and made it the third most-expensive Legislative race in the state last year.
