APPLETON, Wis–A suspect in a cold case murder in Grand Chute is heading to trial. An Outagamie County judge finds there is enough evidence to try Gene Meyer on charges of First Degree Murder and First Degree Sexual Assault.
Meyer is accused of raping and killing Betty Rolf, leaving her body under a bridge, in November of 1988. Investigators used D-N-A evidence to reportedly link Meyer to the murder. He was arrested in Washington state last December.
Meyer will enter a plea to the charges on April 5th.
