GREEN BAY, Wis–Two men from Chicago are accused of stealing mail across Northeast Wisconsin. Derrell Edwards and Dionta Bratcher were stopped by a Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputy along Interstate 43 back on February 5th. A search of the vehicle reportedly found 61 stolen checks from businesses in Brown County, totaling more than $121,000 dollars.
Edwards and Bratcher are also suspects in a string of mail thefts from a business park in Greenville dating back to December of last year, where checks worth more than half-a-million dollars were taken from mailboxes. Investigators say those checks were later cashed or were attempted to be cashed by mobile banking apps and automated teller machines.
Both suspects have been charged in Brown County Court with identity theft. Charges in other counties are pending.
