OSHKOSH, Wis–A highly-publicized concert promoted by the Oshkosh Arena may not happen unless the owner pays up fees owed to the city. On Thursday, the city issued a statement saying the arena had not yet applied to reserve the Leach Amphitheater for the August 6th concert date, featuring Train and Better Than Ezra. That application was submitted three hours after the city issued that statement.
But, the Oshkosh Examiner reports the city will not issue a special event permit for the Train concert until the arena pays for $46,000 in police and emergency services provided at the facility since the Wisconsin Herd started their season back in November. Additionally, City Manager Mark Rohloff says the arena did not pay its $136,000 property tax installment that was due on January 31st, with another payment of that amount due today (Friday).
This continues a pattern of late or non-payment to the city dating back to before the arena declared bankruptcy and went into re-organization in 2020. The arena issued a statement saying “All plans on having this event at the Leach Amphitheater are moving forward as planned. That is our only comment.”
