GREEN BAY, Wis–Green Bay Police are recommending criminal charges against a group of teenagers accused of breaking into cars. Since January 15th, there have been dozens of reported thefts or attempted thefts of Kias and Hyundais in the Green Bay area.
In most cases, the back window was smashed out and the steering column wedged open to access the ignition system. Those two car models have been targeted by thieves in cities across the country after videos went viral last year showing how breaking out the back window does not activate the auto-theft system.
The kids allegedly involved range in age from 13 to 17. Green Bay Police say their investigation is continuing, and more suspects could be referred for charges.
