Some lessons are learned easily and others the hard way... this is an example of the later.
A bus driver for the Douglas County school district in Colorado wanted to teach his riders a lesson out of school and the result is 30 counts of child abuse leveled against him.
61-year-old Brian Fitzgerald is accused of abuse charges for slamming on the brakes of the bus to teach the kids a lesson about staying in their seats.
The students from Castle Rock Elementary School were “educated” by Fitzgerald when he intentionally slammed on the brakes (a.k.a. ‘brake check‘) while the bus was moving – causing many kids to hit their heads on their seats and actually drawing blood from others.
Fitzgerald later apologized while being questioned by police, and said he was an “old-school guy“. But in the same breath, doubled down on his actions claiming he was trying to “educate” and “control the students” riding the bus.
Fitzgerald has subsequently been fired by the bus company.
