When you think of the music of Black Sabbath dancing isn’t something you’d imagine doing to it… maybe you if you consider a mosh pit as ‘dancing,‘ then sure, but ballet?
That’s exactly what’s happening in Sabbath’s hometown of Birmingham, England. A ballet based on the music of Black Sabbath will premiere in September at the Hippodrome in Birmingham.
Tony Iomi has been attending the rehearsals sand says of the production,
“I’m looking at our music differently now with this [the ballet], because it is being interpreted in a different way. It’s still got the basic things, but then it did have in the different orchestral things coming in. And then I never thought for a minute we would have people dancing to Black Sabbath and ‘War Pigs’ and ‘Iron Man’. But here we are, you know.”
Other songs used in the production include, “Paranoid,” “Black Sabbath,” “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath,” and more.
Black Sabbath – The Ballet will run from September 23rd to the 30th.
