James Marsh, the principal at Zela Elementary School in West Virginia (Nicholas County), was shocked at what he saw in the dumpster behind his school.
While unlocking the refuse container Monday morning, Marsh was surprised by a black bear that had made it’s way into the dumpster.
As Marsh moved the latch on the cover, the bear popped it’s head out to say “Hello.”
Oddly enough, Marsh and the bear had the EXACT same reaction and both ran away – thankfully in opposite directions.
Marsh said of the too-close-for-comfort meeting, “I didn’t even get to open the lid. It just popped out of there like a jack-in-the box. It let out a pretty loud growl or roar actually, and that was about the most intimidating thing of the whole event.”
School officials say the principal was unlocking the dumpster for the cooks so they could throw items away – bet they get their own set of keys after this.
Maybe to prevent further furry incursions the school could put some goal posts up near the dumpster because (as we Packer fans all know) the bears will never find that.
