MADISON, Wis–The state Department of Public Instruction is out with its annual school report cards. In the Fox Valley, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute, Neenah, Omro, Winneconne, De Pere, Howard-Suamico, West De Pere and Wrightstown school districts all “exceed expectations”. Appleton, Waupaca, Freedom, Menasha, Oshkosh, and Green Bay school districts all “meet expectations”.
Just a handful of Fox Valley schools are “failing to meet expectations” in the latest round of state report cards. The state Department of Public Instruction gives that designation to Appleton’s Columbus Elementary and Madison Middle schools, along with Hoover Elementary in Neenah.
In the Oshkosh School District, the DPI says Merrill, Roosevelt, and Webster Stanley elementaries are “meeting few expectations”.
The school reports cards are based on standardized test results, graduation rates, and academic growth, with adjustments for socio-economic makeup of the district.
