A stunned Sammy Hagar found out that his true biological surname is not Hagar, but instead Belcher.
On an episode of the PBS show Finding Your Roots host and educator Henry Louis Gates Junior, told Sammy that his DNA does not match any men with the last name Hagar — which means genetically, that’s not his last name.
Hagar couldn’t believe it, saying, “This is nutty as anything I’ve ever imagined.”
However, his DNA did match 27 men with the last name Belcher.
