Nobody saw this coming or maybe they did… and that’s the point.
This is why we can’t have nice things – people.
There is a “visual art installation” called The Portal. Benediktas Gylys, the Lithuanian artist and founder of The Portal said about the piece, “Portals are an invitation to meet people above borders and differences and to experience our world as it really is—united and one.”
Basically it’s a two-way video screen that links Dublin, Ireland with New York City. People can jump in front of the screen and “interact” with people on the other side of the world. Sounds innocent, right… right?
Well, you know people… LET’S FLASH THE STARGATE!
Hilarious! We can't have cool things 😂🤣🤣 NYC - DUblin portal installation is off to a good start. pic.twitter.com/DgKyQFgETf

Yup… Could’ve seen that coming from, well, a world away.
People have been reported using inappropriate behavior including; mooning, flashing (above), dancing provocatively, taking drugs, etc. in front of the portal.
So it was temporarily shut down already.
In a statement this week the Dublin City Council said, “While we cannot control all of these actions, we are implementing some technical solutions to address this and these will go live in the next 24 hours. We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days with our partners in New York to ensure that portals continue to deliver a positive experience for both cities and the world.”
Good luck with that.
