Oh, Canada…
There was an attempt made – specifically a WORLD RECORD attempt – in Canada for the most people dressed as dinosaurs (mainly T-Rexes). This failed not due to an asteroid but because of people… with too many showing up???
You’re probably asking, How can a World Record attempt based upon attendance fail because of higher than expected participation?
Good question.
The answer is… the record is a paltry 252 set in L.A. back in 2019, and they estimate they had 6,000 + people there in Drumheller dressed as T-rexes (or Tyrannosauri if you want to be cool about it) and officials weren’t ready for that many dinos and didn’t get an official count.
The official count was done by handing out wristbands, but they only had 3,000 of them – which would’ve smashed the current record – but a bunch of T-rexes with wristbands were seen leaving the event too early – and OFFICIALLY, to break the record, they ALL needed to stay in one spot for a full minute. T-rexes are so impatient.
The Drumheller tourism board announced the sad news on their Facebook page BUT said don’t worry. They’re making “Jurassic Jamboree” an annual event and say they’ll be fully prepared next year because nature and Canada finds a way.
