Dozens of people reported gunshots at Walmart but when police showed up, No bullet casings, no damage, or any other evidence of a gun being fired, despite over a dozen people reporting it. While officers were on the scene, they heard gunshots in the distance. Moments later, callers reported hearing gunshots near an elementary school. Police headed there, but again came up empty. Minutes later, dispatch received dozens of calls from a middle school football game. Everyone reported gunshots and a possible active shooter. Police arrived on the scene to find a “state of panic.” Parents were on top of kids, shielding them, coaches were doing similar things with players, and people were “running everywhere.” Again, no actual shooter was found. While police were sorting this out, they received more callers from the area of a strip mall, reporting gunshots. An officer heard them also. A witness reported that the sounds may have come from a black 4-door car. Officers located the suspect vehicle and did a traffic stop. Police did not locate a firearm, but learned that the car had been modified to make popping sounds that sounded like gunfire when the engine was revved. Officers had the driver rev up the car, and the officers on the scene reported that it sounded “just like gunshots.” After interviewing the driver and passenger, the passenger admitted to them doing it on purpose near people, as “it is fun,” and people “frequently” panic. They also told police that the whole time, they were “f**king around and laughing” at the chaotic scenes. When police asked them if they knew that the heavy police response was because of their car/actions, the two said that it “crossed their minds.” Meanwhile, an employee of a business contacted the police to report that the males had visited their store during the chaos, and they were joking about all of the police in the area due to their car. One of them allegedly told the other, “Just let them keep thinking it was gunshots.”
So for spending money on a car modification that first of all makes your car sound like it’s about to blow up, for causing an entire town to think they were about to blow up, and for making an entire town wish that you’d blow up, and of course for making your car sound worse than the cars and bikes that sit and rev their engines outside of Laua Lee’s apartment, we are proud to name Dante Smith and Alexander Wourenma of Rice Lake as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenies of the Week.
